The Life and Work Customer Service Skills course introduces a basic level of customer service, moving from good customer service to excellent customer service.
Students who are returning to work after a period of unemployment should consider taking other courses in the Life and Works series for greater preparation, such as Basic Computer and Internet Skills, Online Job Search and Resume Building, and Interview Skills.
Students will learn seven skills in providing good customer service. They will learn how customer service expectations keep growing, and how online reviews have changed customer service permanently. Topics will include the importance of self-awareness, practicing a customer-focused mindset and, most importantly, how to deliver one's best, even when working in a challenging work environment. Finally, students will learn how to transform negative situations into positive ones, how to handle workplace harassment and violent behaviour, and what to expect when working in a Canadian workplace.
